In my final report for this season it's nice to sign off with another victory. A 2-0 win against Tonbridge Angels which means the Woods finished off a reasonable season without having any team do the double over us. Also, good to report there were NO penalties this time around!
The Woods again had to give a debut to another 17 year old keeper, this time Alex Tokovezyk, who gave a very good account of his skills.
In a first half of cat-and-mouse football, the only action worth reporting were a headed clearance off the Woods line by Joel Larrington, and a goal on 32 minutes converted by Timmy Salako after he got on the end of a good flick-on by Lawrie Walters.
A lot more action came after half-time, when the Woods got on top and created a number of half chances, which unfortunately didn’t go in. However, five minutes from time they eventually sealed the win, when after three attempts at goal, which the visiting keeper kept out, Courtney Francis found the back of the net with the fourth effort.
I would like to thank the management and players for the kind gesture made to me before the game. Thank you, very much appreciated.
Man of the Match: Sam Barratt.
